Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel

The hotel’s curved, slate-tiled lobby provides open-air views of the adjacent Kohala Coast. Upon check-in, guests are greeted with cool towels and passion orange juice. Part of the 1,839-acre Mauna Kea Resort, the hotel primarily attracts leisure travelers with its Hapuna Beach location and proximity to championship golf.

Lavish breakfast buffets are served in an indoor-outdoor area, while lunch and dinner options include a seafood grill, a steakhouse and sushi bar, and a poolside bar. The beachfront hotel is adjacent to an 18-hole golf course and within a five-minute drive of another 18-hole course via complimentary scheduled shuttle. Other recreation facilities include a health spa, a fitness center with exercise classes, and a freshwater freeform outdoor pool.

The nine-story hotel has seven restaurants and bars, many with open-air terraces and ocean views. Cuisines include fresh local seafood, steak, sushi, and American fare. The clubhouse at the adjacent golf course houses a casual café. For recreation, guests choose from a freeform outdoor pool, a fitness center with cardiovascular equipment and exercise classes (surcharge), and a health spa providing massage therapy, facials, and body treatments. Several evenings a week, a high-powered telescope is set up for guests to stargaze, and an astronomer is on hand. A year-round children’s program (surcharge) includes Hawaiian arts and crafts, pole fishing, and beachcombing activities. On-site shops offer men's and women's clothing, jewelry, and art.

Located in two ocean-view wings and one oceanfront tower, the hotel’s 350 guestrooms all feature private, furnished lanais with garden, partial ocean, or full ocean views. Island decor includes white-louvered doors, light woods, and wicker and rattan furnishings. Rooms have minibars, mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers, video-game consoles, and in-room safes. Amenities include complimentary premium channels, free local calls, complimentary bottled water, and high-speed Internet access. Bathrooms have granite vanities, separate glass shower stalls and marble tubs, telephones, bathrobes, and slippers.

Coast Grille - A lanai with ocean views surrounds the open-air dining room of this seafood restaurant, which emphasizes fresh local ingredients. Specialties include an oyster bar, lobster, and a seafood buffet on Friday evenings. Serving dinner only.

Hakone Steakhouse and Sushi Bar - A Japanese stone lamp marks the entrance to this tranquil fine-dining restaurant. Steak items complement a menu that includes fresh island fish, sukiyaki, shabu shabu, and sushi. Guests watch the chef at work at a 12-seat sushi bar; a Japanese buffet is held on Friday and Saturday evenings. Serving dinner only.

Ocean Terrace - This casual, open-air restaurant serves breakfast buffets and à la carte selections.

Arnie’s Clubhouse - Adjacent to the fitness center and overlooking fairways, the casual clubhouse offers salads, burgers, sandwiches, and snacks. Open for daily lunch and Sunday brunch.

Beach Bar - Cocktails, early-afternoon pupus, sandwiches, and salads are served poolside.

Beyond the hotel’s large freeform outdoor pool and spa tub, a pathway leads past a beach-activities desk to the half-mile crescent of Hapuna Beach. To the north end lies a secluded snorkeling cove. Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, the 18-hole Hapuna Golf Course provides ocean views, a driving range, putting and chipping greens, a pro shop, and a fitness center.

The Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed Mauna Kea Golf Course is a five-minute drive from the hotel via complimentary scheduled shuttle. Guests also have access to a second fitness center and 13 tennis courts with pro instruction (surcharge) at the partner hotel Mauna Kea Beach Hotel.
